Overview
A production SaaS platform that connects ArcGIS Survey123 submissions to automated PDF generation, email delivery, and downstream webhook routing. It is positioned as a domain specific alternative to Make.com and Zapier built for GIS teams, with a wizard based scenario builder and a real time execution dashboard.
The Problem
GIS teams had no simple way to turn Survey123 field submissions into finished reports and downstream actions. General automation tools like Make.com and Zapier did not understand ArcGIS portals, credentials, or report generation, and connecting them required heavy manual setup and stored administrative credentials.
Architecture & Key Work
- ▹Built a Django and SQL Server backend with field level encryption of portal credentials, a Windows scheduler service for cron based scenarios, a webhook receiver with signature verification, and idempotent event dispatch
- ▹Built an ArcGIS integration layer supporting both ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise portals through OAuth 2.0, with token refresh handling and credential rotation
- ▹Integrated the Survey123 Feature Report API for native PDF generation, with a fallback to docxtpl and LibreOffice for edge cases such as multi hour survey outages and throttled endpoints
- ▹Built auto detection of survey submission layers by matching Form Item titles against feature service layer names, supporting multi survey services
- ▹Reverse engineered the Survey123 webhook payload to extract a per request portal token, removing stored OAuth as a hard dependency and cutting Enterprise onboarding to zero configuration
- ▹Shipped live Stripe subscription billing across three tiers with webhook driven entitlement management
- ▹Added SSO across Google, Microsoft, and GitHub through django allauth, plus Sentry monitoring and structured logging
- ▹Designed a wizard based scenario builder following trigger, fetch, transform, export, deliver, with a real time execution dashboard showing success, failure, and retry visibility
Results & Impact
- ✓Launched a live multi tenant SaaS from HTTP demo to HTTPS custom domain with Content Security Policy and HSTS
- ✓Cut Enterprise customer onboarding from requiring portal admin OAuth app registration to zero configuration
